Sparking Change: Mikala’s Journey Through the Welding World
At Arc-Zone®, we believe every great weld starts with the right connection — between people, passion, and purpose. Through our sister platform, CarmenElectrode.com, we’re proud to spotlight the women who are shaping the future of the welding and fabrication industry. From shop floors to fabrication labs, these trailblazers are redefining what it means to build, create, and lead.
This month, we’re excited to feature Mikala, a 25-year-old welder and fabricator from England, whose journey proves that with skill and determination, there’s no limit to what you can create.

Welding Without Borders
What makes Mikala’s story stand out is her international perspective. Based in England, she represents a growing network of women welders around the world who are proving that craftsmanship and creativity know no borders.
Her story resonates deeply with the Arc-Zone and Carmen Electrode community, where we’ve connected with fabricators from across the globe — from California to Canada, Australia to the UK — who share the same spark for precision and performance.
Welding may look different in every country, but the mindset is the same: a drive to build, improve, and inspire. By highlighting welders like Mikala, we’re bridging the gap between continents and celebrating a global community united by the torch.

Finding Her Passion in Metal and Motion
“I wandered into the engineering department, thought, ‘I could do this for a couple of years to keep me going,’ and ended up absolutely loving it,” Mikala shared.
That spark of curiosity turned into a career. After studying general engineering, she realized that welding and fabrication were more than technical skills — they were creative outlets.
Now part of the biggest welding company in the world, Mikala spends her days surrounded by innovation — new machines, tools, and technology — but still makes time for what she loves most: hands-on welding in her home workshop.
“One of my proudest achievements is joining such a large, innovative company. I love trying out new machines, but I still make time to do what I love most — hands-on welding, whether through demos or in my home workshop,” she said.
From industrial fabrication to metal art sculptures, Mikala’s work blends precision with creativity — proving that welding is as much an art form as it is a trade.

Challenges and Gear That Keep Her Going
Like many in the trade, Mikala knows the value of dependable gear. Her welding helmet and gloves are her go-to tools, but there’s one challenge that persists:
“One thing I’ve often struggled with is finding women’s workwear that fits.”
That struggle is exactly why communities like Carmen Electrode exist — to connect women welders with resources, brands, and gear designed to support them in every environment. Through Arc-Zone’s partnerships and education efforts, we’re helping close that gap — offering products and insights that make the trade more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
Because fit and function go hand in hand — and when women welders have access to the right tools and protective gear, they can focus on what matters most: perfecting their craft.
Empowering Women in Welding — Across the Globe
When asked about opportunities for women in the industry, Mikala’s response was filled with optimism and strength:
“I definitely see more opportunities opening up for women in welding. It can be challenging to enter a male-dominated field, but if it’s something you love and feel passionate about, it’s absolutely worth it — and not nearly as intimidating as it might seem.”
Her advice for aspiring welders?
“Absolutely go for it. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding path.”
From the UK to the U.S., women like Mikala are leading the way — redefining what success looks like in the trades. Their passion, creativity, and skill are helping shift the perception of welding from “just a job” to a global craft of connection, artistry, and innovation.
Building a Stronger Industry — Together
At Arc-Zone, we believe that when you empower one welder, you strengthen the entire industry. Through Carmen Electrode, we’re honored to amplify stories like Mikala’s — connecting women welders worldwide and shining a light on their achievements.
These stories matter because representation matters. When women see others like Mikala succeeding in the trade, it opens the door for the next generation to pick up the torch and continue building the future — one weld at a time.
